This monumental project represents the pinnacle of Conta’s specialized services, focusing on the complete restoration of a prominent historic church. Serving as a spiritual and cultural anchor for the community, the sacred structure suffered from severe structural shifting and extensive decay of its intricate, handcrafted architectural details. The core challenge was to completely stabilize the massive stone masonry and soaring vaulted ceilings without disturbing the delicate, irreplaceable religious artistry that adorned the interior.

Conta approached this sacred task with a profound respect for traditional building methods. We collaborated with master artisans, historians, and stonemasons who specialize in ancient construction techniques. Every damaged Gothic arch, hand-carved timber truss, and ornamental stone facade was meticulously cataloged and restored by hand. Instead of using aggressive modern machinery, our teams utilized period-correct tools and traditional lime-based mortars to ensure the physical and chemical compatibility of the new materials with the original centuries-old stonework.

While the visible focus remained entirely on honoring the original craftsmanship, Conta integrated advanced, non-invasive engineering to secure the church's future. We implemented a state-of-the-art micro-piling system beneath the foundations to halt further structural settling, alongside a discreet carbon-fiber reinforcement network within the upper clerestory walls. Modern, concealed lighting and climate-control systems were also installed to protect the sensitive interior artwork from humidity.
